Nestled at the base of Ohio, across the Ohio River from West Virginia sets a small sleepy town. But this isn't any town usa, this is Haunted Marietta. Marietta is the first permanent settlement of the new United States in the Territory Northwest of the Ohio River, but the white settlers weren't the first occupants. The Native American Hopewell tribes inhabited the lands since at least 100BC building multi-earthwork mounds across the whole of the area. As the French, George Washington and the settlers became interested in establishing homesteads, the conflicts arose, the killing began, revolutionary wars, the destruction of the sacred mounds and the massive flooding from the Ohio River all contributed to the spirits unrested converging in the small town of Marietta. Listen as we tell you the history of the Famous Lafayette Hotel, the Mound Cemetery and more about the city known as Haunted Marietta.
